What Is DARK MACHINE THE ANIMATION About? (Story & Lore)
Set in a near-future Japan, Dark Machine is an immensely popular global esports phenomenon—a high-stakes 7v7 mecha battle arena game that dictates local economies and corporate power.
The story takes place in Golden Valley, the only special economic zone in Japan designated specifically for Dark Machine esports. The region is ruled with an iron fist by Ajima, the 7th “Senki” and undisputed champion of the game.
Our protagonist, Kairi, travels to Golden Valley to fulfill the final wish of his late grandfather: “Find Senki.” Shortly after arriving, Kairi encounters Rudra, a mysterious girl hunted by Ajima’s operatives. Drawn into the arena crossfire, Kairi steps inside a pilot cockpit for the first time—unleashing a raw, natural talent for mecha combat that threatens to rewrite the hierarchy of Golden Valley.
